Wines » Sauvignon Blanc 2009
The 2009 Stafford Lane Sauvignon Blanc is created from 100% estate grown fruit, which is managed under Sustainable Winegrowing practices (SWNZ). Careful canopy management in the vines and fine, settled weather over the late summer early autumn meant the fruit was clean and healthy, and able to be picked later than in previous years with the resulting fruit displaying a pleasing balance of fruitiness and acidity.
Fermentation was controlled at cooler temperatures, with a newer specialty Sauvignon Blanc yeast, to enhance the vibrant fruit characters and making the wine a wonderful match with food. The ferment was stopped to allow for a natural sweetness, enhancing the tropical aspect of the wine, while a firm acid presence maintains a typical Sauvignon Blanc cut grass character. No fining was necessary, and the wine was cross flow filtered prior to bottling.
On the nose there is gooseberry, passionfruit and juicy citrus, flinty intense fruit flavour on the palate.
