Pinot Noir 2009

Winery Background: The 2009 Stafford Lane Pinot Noir is created from 100% estate grown fruit, which is managed under Sustainable Winegrowing practices(SWNZ). The fruit was selectively handpicked, and chilled down overnight upon arrival at the winery, proir to gentle de-stemming into vats. The different clones (777, 667, 115 & 10/5) were all kept separate during fermentation, where cultered yeast strains were chosen to allow for the best expression of the fruits characteristics. After a brief post ferment soak on skins, the fruit was pressed out to a selection of French barrels where malo-lactic fermentation took place. Late January the barrels were racked to tank & the final blend assembled. No fining agents were needed prior to cross flow filtration and bottling.
