Wines » Pinot Blanc 2009
The 2009 Pinot Blanc was 100% grown at Stafford Lane Estate, which is managed under Sustainable Winegrowing practices (SWNZ). This is the first vintage for this Pinot Blanc and the block where it is grown is nicknamed "Mike's Folly". The vines were carefully hand managed and the fruit matured to just the right ripeness before hand harvesting on the 25.3.09.
The Pinot Blanc fruit was carefully handled, with destemming first, then crushed and gently pressed. It had a long cool ferment in a stainless steel tank using a specialty yeast that gives a nice palate weight. The wine was lightly oaked using French oak chips and then pad filtered prior to bottling.
On the nose this Pinot Blanc wine has beautiful fruity aromas of apples and melon and citrus on the palate with a creamy finish.
