Wines » Montepulciano 2008
The fruit for this wine was sourced entirely from Stafford Lane Estate sustainable vineyards on the Waimea plains. The fruit was picked ripe, at 22.5˚ Brix and was 100% hand harvested to ensure high quality fruit only.
In the winery, 100% destemmed with some crushing followed by a cold pre-ferment maceration of 3 days. Cultured yeasts were then used for fermentation and the vats were hand plunged for the duration.
Once pressed off skins, the wine was matured in French oak barriques (30% new) for 10 months, and 100% MLF took place at this time. The wine had a light egg white fining and filtration prior to bottling.
